Western Blot analysis of ALL BSA-Alginate Conjugate showing detection of ~250 kDa Alginate protein. Lane 1: MW ladder. Lane 2: 0.625 µg BSA:Alginate. Load: 0.625 µg. Blocking: 5% milk + TBST for 1 hour at RT. Samples were incubated with Alginate monoclonal antibody (Product # MA5-45315) at 1:500 for 1 hour at RT, followed by HRP Goat Anti-Mouse at 1:100 for 1 hour at RT. Color Development: TMB solution for 2 min at RT. Predicted/Observed Size: ~250 kDa.

1 µg/mL of MA5-45315 was sufficient for detection of 150 ng of alginate-conjugated BSA by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. |Binds selectively to a BSA-conjugated alginate, but not to unconjugated BSA.
Target Information
Sodium alginate is used in biological experiments for the immobilization of cells and encapsulation due to its biocompatibility and simple gelation with divalent cations such as Ca2+. Studies suggest that preparation of alginate microspheres will sustain protein delivery within tissue scaffolds, as well as in many other cell types.
