Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Arabidopsis thaliana
MYC2 encodes a MYC-related basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper transcriptional activator that localizes to the nucleus, where it binds extended G-box promoter elements to modulate gene expression in response to jasmonate and other environmental cues. In Arabidopsis thaliana, MYC2 is annotated as a protein-coding gene that produces a bHLH-Leu zipper DNA-binding protein (reported as single-exon in the reference record), consistent with its role as a sequence-specific transcription factor. Functionally, MYC2 is a central regulator of jasmonate signaling: it is activated when jasmonate perception triggers degradation of JASMONATE ZIM-domain repressors, enabling MYC2 to drive early jasmonate-responsive transcriptional programs involved in wound and defense responses, including regulation of insect resistance, secondary metabolism, and oxidative-stress-related pathways; MYC2 also integrates crosstalk with additional signals such as abscisic acid, dehydration, and light-regulated development, and can influence downstream transcription factor networks to shape context-dependent jasmonate outputs.
