NFIB (Nuclear Factor I B) is a member of the Nuclear Factor I (NFI) family of transcription factors that play critical roles in DNA replication and gene regulation. NFIB is widely involved in developmental processes, including lung and brain maturation, and has been implicated in tumorigenesis, where altered expression or rearrangements can influence cell proliferation, differentiation, and metastatic potential. NF1B2, a related isoform/variant within the NFI family context, contributes to the fine-tuning of transcriptional regulation through differential expression and functional modulation. Together, NFIB and NF1B2 are important regulators of gene networks governing cellular development, tissue-specific differentiation, and disease-associated pathways, making them significant targets for both basic biological research and translational studies.
