Western blot analysis of NUCB2 in extracts of HeLa cells. Samples were incubated with NUCB2 Polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-88676) using a dilution of 1:3,000, followed by HRP Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) at a dilution of 1:10,000. Lysates/proteins: 25 µg per lane. Blocking buffer: 3% nonfat dry milk in TBST. Detection: ECL Basic Kit. Exposure time: 90s.

Target Information
NUCB2 was initially identified as calcium-binding protein EF hand motif-containing protein that could bind with Necdin, a growth suppressor expressed primarily in postmitotic neurons. NUC2 is a secreted protein that is cleaved into three major peptide products, Nesfatin-1, Nesfatin-2, and Nesfatin-3, of which Nesfatin-1 has been found to cause the suppression of food intake in a leptin-independent manner. Other studies have suggested that NUCB2/Nesfatin-1 may also play roles in energy homeostasis and closely related neuroendocrine functions.
