PA1-755 detects prostate apoptosis response protein (Par-4) from human and rat tissues.
PA1-755 has been sucessfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~40 kDa protein representing Par-4 in AT-3 cell extract. In Western blots of rat tissue extracts, including testes, spleen, ovary, lung, and skeletal muscle, ~40 kDa and ~38 kDa proteins representing Par-4 are detected. In Western blots of T47D cell extracts, an ~40 kDa protein representing Par-4 and a smaller ~20 kDa unknown protein is detected.
PA1-755 immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acids residues 324-342 from human Par-4. PA1-755 immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-060) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.
Prostate apoptosis response protein (Par-4) is an ~38 kDa protein containing a leucine zipper at its carboxy terminus. The leucine zipper is required for Par-4 function during apoptosis and has also been shown to directly interact with Wilm"e;s Tumor Suppressor, WT-1. Par-4 is up-regulated in apoptotic prostate cells and has also been observed at ~18 times higher concentration in human brain tissue from Alzheimer's patients when compared to unaffected brain tissue.
