Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 100 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Solanum tuberosum
Patatin is a plant lipid acyl hydrolase originally identified as a major storage protein in potato tubers that also functions as a phospholipase A. It hydrolyzes membrane phospholipids to release free fatty acids and lysophospholipids, contributing to lipid remodeling, signaling, and defense. Patatin like proteins are widely distributed across plants and are induced by wounding, pathogen attack, and abiotic stress, linking lipid derived signals such as oxylipins to immunity and stress adaptation. As a storage protein, patatin provides nitrogen and carbon during sprouting and early growth, while its enzymatic activity can modulate membrane integrity and metabolic pathways. Variants show tissue specific expression and differing catalytic properties, and manipulation of patatin levels affects tuber quality traits, defense capacity, and responses to environmental challenges.
