Target Information
RPS6A is a plant ribosomal protein of the small 40S subunit that plays a key role in translation initiation and regulation downstream of TOR signaling. It participates in mRNA decoding and interacts with initiation factors to support efficient ribosome assembly on transcripts, influencing growth and protein synthesis capacity. RPS6A is phosphorylated by S6 kinases, and its phosphorylation state reflects cellular energy and nutrient status, adjusting translation of specific mRNAs during development and stress. Expression of RPS6A is high in actively growing tissues and changes with hormones, light, and environmental cues. Perturbation of RPS6A or its phosphorylation alters growth rate, organ size, and stress resilience by shifting translational efficiency and selectivity.
