Detection of human Pygo1 by western blot and immunoprecipitation. Samples: Whole cell lysate from HeLa (5, 15 and 50 µg for WB; 1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) and HEK293T (T; 50 µg) cells. Pygopus 1 (PYGO1) is a gene located on chromosome 6p21.31, encoding a protein that plays a crucial role in the Wnt signaling pathway, which is fundamental for various developmental processes including cell proliferation, polarity, and fate determination. PYGO1 is a part of the Pygopus family of proteins, characterized by their Plant Homeodomain (PHD) finger domain that facilitates interaction with histones. Within the Wnt signaling pathway, PYGO1 acts as a coactivator by binding to components of the transcription complex, thus aiding in the expression of Wnt target genes.
