SMPD3 Antibody (PA5-143767) in WB
Western blot of SMPD3 in aldehyde-fixed and NP-40-permeabilized differentiated PC12 cells. The cells were labeled with rabbit SMPD3 polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-143767) in the absence (Left) or presence (Right) of blocking peptide. The antibody was detected using appropriate secondary antibody conjugated to DyLight® 594. The cells were counterstained with Sytox green to label nuclei.

The antibody detects a 78 kDa* band corresponding to nSMase2 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of adult mouse brain and rat PC12 cells.
Target Information
Catalyzes the hydrolysis of sphingomyelin to form ceramide and phosphocholine. Ceramide mediates numerous cellular functions, such as apoptosis and growth arrest, and is capable of regulating these 2 cellular events independently. Also hydrolyzes sphingosylphosphocholine. Regulates the cell cycle by acting as a growth suppressor in confluent cells. Probably acts as a regulator of postnatal development and participates in bone and dentin mineralization.
