PA1-740 detects synaptosomal associated protein 25 (SNAP-25) from bovine, mouse, rat and zebra fish (Danio rerio) samples.
PA1-740 has been successfully used in Western blot and immunofluorescence procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects a 25 kDa protein representing SNAP-25 in whole rat brain, mouse brain and zebra fish extracts. Immunofluorescence staining of SNAP-25 in cultured rat hippocampal cells with PA1-740 yields a pattern consistent with cytoplasmic and plasma membrane staining.
PA1-740 immunizing peptide corresponds to the C-terminal amino acid residues 195-206 of mouse SNAP-25. This sequence is completely conserved between mouse, rat, human, chicken, and goldfish. PA1-740 immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-032) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.
SNAP25 is a t-SNARE involved in the molecular regulation of neurotransmitter release. It may play a role in the synaptic function of specific neuronal systems. SNAP25 associates with proteins involved in vesicle docking and membrane fusion. It also regulates plasma membrane recycling through its interaction with CENPF. Mutations in the gene can results in myasthenic syndrome.
