PA1-24996 detects TRPM2 from human samples.
PA1-24996 has been successfully used in immunoprecipitation, and Western blot procedures.
The PA1-24996 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to a portion of the human transient receptor potential cation channel, subfamily M, member 2 encoded within exon 13.
TRPM2 belongs to the ion transport protein family which includes Sodium, Potassium, Calcium ion channels. This family is characterized by proteins possessing 6 transmembrane helices in which the last two helices flank a loop which determines ion selectivity. TRPM2 is activated by oxidative stress and confers susceptibility to cell death. Further, TRPM2 is a calcium-permeable cation channel that is regulated by free intracellular ADP-ribose. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of the TRPM2 gene have been described, but their full-length nature is not known.
