Immunohistochemistry analysis of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human kidney stained using a UNC5CL polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-23295) at 5 ug/ml. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues is enhanced by boiling tissue sections in 10 mM sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.

UNC5CL is a membrane protein belonging to theUNC-5 family with a death domain and a ZU5 domain and is known to interact with p65/RELA and NFKB1. UNC5CL is known to interact with subunit p105 of NF-kappaB and transactivator p65 and is thus involved in inhibition of NF-kappaB activation and NF-kappaB-dependent transcription by inhibiting the binding of NF-kappaB to its target sequence (providing an alternative regulatory mechanism for NF-kappaB-mediated transcription). This regulatory protein sensitizes cells to apopotosis induced by TNF and TRAIL.
