Target Information
VGLUT1 and VGLUT2 are vesicular glutamate transporters encoded by the SLC17A7 and SLC17A6 genes, respectively, that load glutamate into synaptic vesicles in excitatory neurons. They are essential for glutamatergic neurotransmission, with VGLUT1 mainly expressed in cortical and hippocampal neurons and VGLUT2 more prominent in subcortical regions.
