WFDC11 is a gene that encodes a protein belonging to the WAP (whey acidic protein) four-disulfide core domain family. This family of proteins contains a conserved cysteine-rich domain that is thought to have a role in host defense. WFDC11 is expressed in the salivary gland, pancreas, and prostate gland, and has been shown to have a potential role in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation.
