Store lyophilized/reconstituted at -20°C; once reconstituted make aliquots to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please remember to spin the tubes briefly prior to opening them to avoid any losses that might occur from material adhering to the cap or sides of the tube.
For reconstitution add 50 µL of sterile water.
Specific Species Reactivity: Higher plants and algae
Xylose is a five carbon sugar found in plant cell walls, primarily as part of hemicelluloses such as xyloglucan and xylan that contribute to wall strength, flexibility, and porosity. Plants synthesize activated xylose as UDP xylose from UDP glucuronic acid via UDP xylose synthase and incorporate it into polysaccharides using specific glycosyltransferases. Xylose content and substitution patterns affect wall mechanics, growth, and digestibility, influencing processes like elongation, vascular development, and biomass utilization for biofuel. Remodeling enzymes including xylanases and xyloglucan endotransglycosylases alter xylose rich polymers during development and stress, while transport and metabolism connect pentose pools to central carbon pathways via the pentose phosphate pathway.
