Human Alpha Internexin shares 98.9% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with both mouse and rat Alpha Internexin.
Reconstitute with 0.2 mL of distilled water to yield a concentration of 500 µg/mL.
Positive Control - WB: human SH-SY5Y whole cell, human A549 whole cell, human Hela whole cell, rat brain tissue, rat C6 whole cell, mouse brain tissue, mouse Neuro-2a whole cell. IHC: human glioma tissue, mouse brain tissue, rat brain tissue, rat brain tissue. ICC/IF: A549 cell. Flow: SiHa cell.|Store at -20°C for one year from date of receipt. After reconstitution, at 4°C for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20°C for six months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Target Information
alpha-Internexin is a Class IV intermediate filament subunit expressed very early in neuronal development. It is related to but distinct from the better known neurofilament triplet proteins, NF-L, NF-M and NF-H, having similar protein sequence motifs and a similar intron organization. Many classes of mature neurons contain a-internexin in addition to NF-L, NF-M and NF-H. In some mature neurons a-internexin is the only neurofilament subunit expressed. Antibodies to internexin are therefore unique probes to study and classify neuronal types and follow their processes in sections and in tissue culture. In addition the very early developmental expression of a-internexin means its presence is an early and convenient diagnostic feature of neuronal progenitors cells and other cell committed to the neuronal lineage. The use of antibodies to this protein in the study of brain tumors has not been examined to date, but is likely to be of interest.
