Biobanking Becomes the Talk of Dallas at ISBER 2018

Biobanking Becomes the Talk of Dallas at ISBER 2018
By Chris Tsourides

Our team will once again join researchers, policymakers and product manufacturers at ISBER 2018, the premier event for biobanking. Taking
place May 20-24 in Dallas, the ISBER Annual Meeting will bring together hundreds of individuals across all facets of the community to address the scientific, technical, legal and ethical issues impacting repositories and biological specimens today.

Since last year’s event, we’ve seen the number and scope of biobanking projects around the world grow tremendously. One of the most prominent examples is the National Institute of Health’s All of Us Research Program. This initiative aims to gather and catalogue data from one million people throughout the United States with the hope of accelerating research for a wide range of diseases and increasing our understanding of high-risk disease groups, healthy states and national health trends.

A project of this scale will have massive implications for future research, and biobanks play a key role in making this possible. Hospitals, biopharmaceutical companies and research organizations around the world rely on biobanks and biorepositories for the biological samples and associated data necessary to fuel their research – which is why having tools in place to ensure sample integrity and facilitate data dissemination is so essential.

Creating a Strong Foundation for Biobanking Success

At our booth (#209), we’ll display our diverse and innovative portfolio of biobanking products and services designed to help researchers maintain sample integrity and ease sample traceability throughout each step of the biobanking workflow.

With our wide array of products, we’re sure to have a solution that will fit seamlessly into your current processes, allowing you to safeguard your samples and ensure the critical data obtained can be easily accessed and disseminated to aid further research and scientific discovery.

As you’re planning your trip to ISBER, we hope you’ll add us to your list of stops. At our booth, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about our products and how to choose the right ones for your storage and tracking needs. You’ll also be able to connect one-on-one with either myself or a Thermo Fisher Scientific specialist, who can address your lab’s needs and guide you towards the right product for your research. Additionally, our specialists can discuss best practices for optimizing your biosample management strategy and more easily manage specimen requests.

We also invite you to attend our lunch symposium, taking place from 12:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday, May 22. During this discussion, Dr. Andrew Brooks, COO, RUCDR Infinite Biologics and professor of genetics at Rutgers University, will explain the opportunity that exists today to implement genetic analysis into your current biobanking workflow and how to capitalize on new technologies to do this smoothly and effectively.

We look forward to seeing you at the show!
