This week, Thermo Fisher joins more than 3,000 exhibitors and 230,000 attendees at K 2019, the world’s largest trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry. Held every three years, the “K Show” is an important forum for researchers, manufacturers, and suppliers to congregate and discuss trends impacting the industry – and how the industry impacts the world.

The attention given to the downside of plastics – primarily from an environmental impact standpoint – has never been higher. When improperly disposed of, plastics litter our oceans and land with vast layers of waste. Microparticles from plastics are being found in sea life and drinking water, creating panic over their potential health impact.
Despite these challenges, the pace of innovation – around sustainable development, biodegradable materials, clean energy, and recycling – on display at K 2019 is exciting and shows the commitment of the industry to work together and solve these problems.
From the formulation of new materials to the QC testing of final products, Thermo Fisher is working closely with the plastics and polymers industry to enable innovation and drive productivity. Follow our Advancing Materials blog and daily social media cover throughout K 2019 to learn about our latest polymers and plastics applications and instruments.
