About This Kit
The Human FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) ELISA quantitates FSH in serum and plasma.
Principle of the method
The Human Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the concentration of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) in biological samples. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody.
The sandwich complex is formed by the addition of a second (HRP-linked) detection antibody specific to Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). Excess reagents are washed from the plate.
A substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce a measurable signal. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution. The intensity of the signal, measured spectrophotometrically at 450 ± 2 nm, is directly proportional to the concentration of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) present in the original specimen.

Target information
Follicle-stimulatine hormone (FSH) is a member of the glycoprotein hormone family. Members of this family consist of an identical alpha subunit and a hormone-specific beta subunit. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding the same protein. FSH is secreted by gonadotropic cells in the pituitary gland and in conjunction with luteinizing hormone, induces egg and sperm production.
