The Human FSTL3/FLRG (Hu FLRG) ELISA quantitates Hu FLRG in human serum, plasma, or cell culture medium. The assay will exclusively recognize both natural and recombinant Hu FLRG.
Principle of the method
The Human FLRG solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the amount of the target bound between a matched antibody pair. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are then added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the addition of the second (detector) antibody, a substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce measurable signal. The intensity of this signal is directly proportional to the concentration of target present in the original specimen.
Rigorous validation
Each manufactured lot of this ELISA kit is quality tested for criteria such as sensitivity, specificity, precision, and lot-to-lot consistency. See manual for more information on validation.
Follistatin-like 3 (FSTL3) is a gene located on chromosome 19p13.3 and encodes a secreted glycoprotein that belongs to the follistatin-related protein family. FSTL3 functions as an antagonist to members of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily, particularly inhibiting activin and myostatin signaling. This inhibitory action is crucial for regulating muscle growth, fertility, and inflammation. FSTL3 is expressed in various tissues, including the placenta, gonads, and skeletal muscle, where it modulates physiological processes by binding to and neutralizing the activities of its target ligands. Dysregulation of FSTL3 has been implicated in conditions such as muscle wasting, metabolic syndrome, and reproductive disorders, reflecting its role in maintaining tissue homeostasis and function. Research into FSTL3 focuses on its potential therapeutic applications in diseases involving TGF-β pathway dysregulation, offering insights into strategies for modulating growth factor activities in clinical settings.
