Multispecies AKT1 (Total) InstantOne™ ELISA Kit
Representative data for AKT1 (Total) Multispecies InstantOne™ ELISA. MCF7 cells were treated with 10 µM wortmannin for 60 min (-) or stimulated with 10 ng/mL insulin for 10 min (+). Cells were analyzed by immunoblotting (left) and the AKT 1 (Total) InstantOne™ ELISA (right). The intensity of the band at 56 kDa as detected by immunoblot correlates with AKT 1 (Total) InstantOne™ ELISA absorption values.

About This Kit
The InstantOne™ ELISA is specifically engineered for accurate measurement of total human, mouse, and hamster AKT 1 in cell lysates. Detection of rat AKT 1 is expected. The InstantOne™ ELISA kit allows for fast analysis of samples in approximately one hour. All reagents used in a traditional sandwich ELISA are added in solution to a plate followed by a wash step and detection with the TMB colorimetric substrate.
Target information
AKT1 (PKB alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates cell survival. The activated enzyme inhibits apoptosis and stimulates cell cycle progression by phosphorylating numerous targets in various cell types, including cancer cells. This protein kinase is activated by insulin, PI3K, IGF1 and various other growth and survival factors. Akt promotes cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis through phosphorylation and inactivation of several targets, including forkhead transcription factors, and caspase-9. The AKT pathway is a major target for cancer drug discovery.
