Learn about transplantation and organ donation. Get the support you need.
The road leading up to transplant can be daunting and full of uncertainty, as can life with a new organ. The aim of this site is to provide prospective and current transplant recipients, their caregivers, and potential living donors access to educational content to support them across each stage of the transplant journey. This includes information about the transplant referral process, organ donation, how to be your best advocate, what to expect at the time of transplant, and life with a new organ.
At One Lambda, the Transplant Diagnostics business of Thermo Fisher, our mission is to improve quality of life for transplant recipients and their caregivers. Supporting the transplant community with high-quality educational materials and resources is a critical component of delivering on this mission.
Some of the most powerful words in the English language are the ones that have more than one meaning. "Counting" is a way of taking inventory. For recipients of the lifesaving, life-changing gift of organ donation, the counting keeps going; every day is a chance to cover more miles on a bike, train another athlete or teach another student. These individuals are literally counting the moments and the milestones. At the same time, “counting” can mean dependence—on the donors, caregivers, nonprofits, industry, healthcare providers, and practitioners that make the miracle transplantation possible.
While "Counting on You" acknowledges everyone along the transplant journey, none is more celebrated than the people whose lives go on thanks to the gift of another’s heart, kidney, lung, liver, or other precious organ. To all the recipients, we affirm one simple message: "The world is a better place simply because you are in it."
"Letters of Hope" is a new docuseries where patient advocate, Valen Keefer, addresses the realities of life with a transplant. At the conclusion of the episodes, we hosted a live and virtual screening of the Letters of Hope series, which received the "Inspire Award", followed by a guest panel discussion featuring Valen, our patient advocacy consultant.
No matter what stage of the transplant journey you’re in, it’s important to stay educated and advocate on your own behalf. For those considering donation, you can access interviews with living donors who talk about the process and the positive impact it’s had on their lives.
