          Ataxin 3 Antibody (711823) in ICC/IF

Knockdown of Ataxin 3 was achieved by transfecting PC-3 cells with specific siRNA (Silencer® select Product # s230538 & s8794). Immunofluorescence analysis was performed on PC-3 cells (untransfected, panel a-d), transfected with Ataxin 3 specific siRNA (panel i-l) or non-specific scrambled siRNA (panels e-h). Cells were fixed, permeabilized, and labelled with Anti-Ataxin 3 Recombinant Rabbit Superclonal™ Antibody (Product # 711823, 1:100 dilution), followed by Goat anti-Rabbit IgG (Heavy Chain) Superclonal™ Secondary Antibody, Alexa Fluor®... Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with Monkey, Horse, Dog

Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They are comprised of a selection of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, providing the best of both worlds - the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies - all delivered with the consistency only found in a recombinant antibody. While functionally the same as a polyclonal antibody - recognizing multiple epitope sites on the target and producing higher detection sensitivity for low abundance targets - a recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibody has a known mixture of light and heavy chains. The exact population can be produced in every lot, circumventing the biological variability typically associated with polyclonal antibody production. Note: Formerly called “Recombinant polyclonal antibody”, this product is now rebranded as “Recombinant Superclonal™ antibody”. The physical product and the performance remain unchanged.

          Target Information

Machado-Joseph disease is an autosomal dominant neurologic disorder, and is now known to be the same as previously described spinocerebellar ataxia-3. MJD protein (Ataxin-3) contains (CAG)n repeats in the coding region, and the expansion of these repeats from the normal 13-36 to 68-79 is the cause of Machado-Joseph disease. There is a negative correlation between the age of onset and CAG repeat numbers. This protein interacts with key regulators (CBP, p300 and PCAF) of transcription and represses transcription, and also acts as a histone-binding protein that regulates transcription. MJD is a deubiquitinating enzyme.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
