Product Specific Information
Specificity: Clone 8C8 recognizes human alpha-defensin 5 (HD5).
Endotoxin Level: <1.0 EU/mg as determined by the LAL method.
Purity: ≥95% monomer by analytical SEC and >95% by SDS Page.
Preparation: Functional grade preclinical antibodies are manufactured in an animal free facility using in vitro cell culture techniques and are purified by a multi-step process including the use of protein A or G to assure extremely low levels of endotoxins, leachable protein A or aggregates.
Storage: Functional grade preclinical antibodies may be stored sterile as received at 2-8C for up to one month. For longer term storage, aseptically aliquot in working volumes without diluting and store at -80C. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.
Target Information
Defensins are a family of antimicrobial and cytotoxic peptides thought to be involved in host defense. They are abundant in the granules of neutrophils and also found in the epithelia of mucosal surfaces such as those of the intestine, respiratory tract, urinary tract, and vagina. Members of the defensin family are highly similar in protein sequence and distinguished by a conserved cysteine motif. Several of the alpha defensin genes appear to be clustered on chromosome 8. The protein encoded by this gene, defensin, alpha 5, is highly expressed in the secretory granules of Paneth cells of the ileum.
