PALM2-AKAP2 is a fusion/readthrough protein associated with the PALM2AKAP2 locus that contains regions related to both PALM2 (paralemmin-2) and AKAP2 (A-kinase anchoring protein 2). The AKAP2-derived portion is linked to A-kinase anchoring functions that help organize protein kinase A (PKA) signaling within cells, while the PALM2-derived portion is related to membrane-associated paralemmin proteins. PALM2-AKAP2 should therefore be distinguished from PALM2 or AKAP2 alone, although antibodies targeting shared regions may cross-react with the corresponding individual protein.
