BSA that has been covalently attached to multiple dinitrophenyl (DNP) hapten molecules is commonly used as a protein tracer. Some applications of this tracer include the study of Fc receptor–mediated immune function and the IgE- and IgG-mediated responses to crosslinking of DNP-specific antibodies. Because DNP-BSA has a more defined molecular weight than the polydisperse dextrans, it may be better suited for some applications where the size of the tracer protein must be known with accuracy.

Has ∼25 dinitrophenyl substituents per molecule of BSA
DNP-BSA can be detected with an unlabeled or a fluorescently labeled anti-DNP antibody (A6430, A11097, A6423, A6435, Q17421MP; Anti-Dye and Anti-Hapten Antibodies—Section 7.4)

In addition to the DNP hapten–labeled BSA, we also offer several fluorescent conjugates of BSA, ovalbumin, and parvalbumin Protein Conjugates—Section 14.7.

Abstract
Internalization and degradation of macrophage Fc receptors bound to polyvalent immune complexes.
Authors:Mellman I, Plutner H
Journal:J Cell Biol
PubMed ID:6715404
'We have studied the Fc receptor-mediated pinocytosis of immunoglobulin G (IgG)-containing immune complexes by mouse macrophages. IgG complexes were formed from affinity-purified rabbit dinitrophenyl IgG and dinitrophenyl modified BSA at molar ratios of 2.5-10:1. Both the specificity of binding and the fate of internalized receptors were analyzed using monoclonal and ... More
More sensitive immune complex transfer enzyme immunoassay for antibody IgG to p17 of HIV-1 with shorter incubation time for immunoreactions and larger volumes of serum samples.

'In the previous immune complex transfer enzyme immunoassay for antibody IgG to p17 of HIV-1, the immune complex comprising 2,4-dinitrophenyl-bovine serum albumin-recombinant p17 conjugate, anti-p17 IgG, and recombinant p17-beta-D-galactosidase conjugate was trapped onto polystyrene beads coated with (anti-2,4-dinitrophenyl group) IgG by overnight incubation and was transferred to polystyrene beads coated ... More

'The idiotypic (Ab1) and anti-idiotypic (Ab2) responses of spleen cells of mice immunized with DNP-Ficoll were assayed with the spot ELISA technique in wells coated with DNP-BSA or with affinity-purified rabbit anti-DNP antibodies, respectively. In agreement with results previously obtained with the hemolytic plaque technique, large numbers of Ab1 and ... More
Detection of one attomole of [Arg8]-vasopressin by novel noncompetitive enzyme immunoassay (hetero-two-site complex transfer enzyme immunoassay).

'One attomole of [Arg8]-vasopressin (AVP) was detected by a novel noncompetitive enzyme immunoassay (hetero-two-site complex transfer enzyme immunoassay). AVP was indirectly biotinylated using N-hydroxysuccinimidobiotin and trapped onto an anti-AVP IgG-coated polystyrene ball. After washing, biotinylated AVP was eluted from the polystyrene ball with HCl and was reacted with 2,4-dinitrophenyl-fluorescein disulfide-bovine ... More
Quantitative measurement of mast cell degranulation using a novel flow cytometric annexin-V binding assay.

'BACKGROUND: Mast cells are primary mediators of allergic inflammation. Antigen-mediated crosslinking of their cell surface immunoglobulin E (IgE) receptors results in degranulation and the release of proinflammatory mediators including histamine, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and leukotrienes. METHODS: Mast cells were stimulated to degranulate by using either IgE crosslinking or ionophore treatment. ... More
