Thermo Fisher Scientific offers a broad selection of Invitrogen concanavalin A (Con A) conjugates, including Alexa Fluor™ and Alexa Fluor™ Plus conjugates. Concanavalin A (Con A) has been used in a variety of applications, including immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC) and flow cytometry (FC). In many cell types, concanavalin A (Con A) is a good marker of ER and Golgi.
Thermo Fisher Scientific offers a broad selection of Invitrogen concanavalin A (Con A) conjugates, including Alexa Fluor and Alexa Fluor Plus conjugates. Concanavalin A selectively binds to alpha‐mannopyranosyl and alpha‐glucopyranosyl residues. In neutral and alkaline solutions, concanavalin A exists as a tetramer with a molecular weight of approximately 104,000 Daltons. In acidic solutions (pH below 5.0), concanavalin A exists as a dimer. Conjugated concanavalin A has been used in variety of applications, including immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and flow cytometry (FC).

Abstract
Competitive binding assay for glucose based on glycodendrimer-fluorophore conjugates.
Authors:Ibey BL, Beier HT, Rounds RM, Coté GL, Yadavalli VK, Pishko MV
Journal:Anal Chem
PubMed ID:16255607
A new fluorescent glucose assay has been created using Alexa Fluor 647-labeled concanavalin A (Con A) and a fourth-generation PAMAM Alexa Fluor 594-labeled glycodendrimer. This assay has been shown to have a large response to glucose within the biological range and to be capable of functioning within a polymer hydrogel. ... More
The plane of first cleavage is not related to the distribution of sperm components in the mouse.
Authors:Davies TJ, Gardner RL
Journal:Hum Reprod
PubMed ID:12202427
BACKGROUND: Marking experiments using phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) and Concanavalin A (ConA) have suggested that the first cleavage plane is related to the point of sperm entry. Because of concerns about the specificity of lectin binding, the distribution of sperm components has been investigated directly. METHODS AND RESULTS: The sperm tail could ... More
Elimination of plasma membrane phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-bisphosphate is required for exocytosis from mast cells.
Authors:Hammond GR, Dove SK, Nicol A, Pinxteren JA, Zicha D, Schiavo G
Journal:J Cell Sci
PubMed ID:16687737
The inositol lipid phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-bisphosphate [PtdIns(4,5)P2] is involved in a myriad of cellular processes, including the regulation of exocytosis and endocytosis. In this paper, we address the role of PtdIns(4,5)P2 in compound exocytosis from rat peritoneal mast cells. This process involves granule-plasma membrane fusion as well as homotypic granule membrane ... More
Acquisition of Phage Sensitivity by Bacteria through Exchange of Phage Receptors.
Authors:Tzipilevich E, Habusha M, Ben-Yehuda S
Journal:Cell
PubMed ID:28041851
'Bacteriophages (phages) typically exhibit a narrow host range, yet they tremendously impact horizontal gene transfer (HGT). Here, we investigate phage dynamics in communities harboring phage-resistant (R) and sensitive (S) bacteria, a common scenario in nature. Using Bacillus subtilis and its lytic phage SPP1, we demonstrate that R cells, lacking SPP1 ... More
Mutations in EEA1 are associated with allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis and affect phagocytosis of Aspergillus fumigatus by human macrophages.
Authors:Overton NLD, Brakhage AA, Thywißen A, Denning DW, Bowyer P
Journal:PLoS One
PubMed ID:29547649
'Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) in asthma is a severe, life-affecting disease that potentially affects over 4.8 million people globally. In the UK, ABPA is predominantly caused by the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus. Phagocytosis is important in clearance of this fungus, and Early Endosome Antigen 1 (EEA1) has been demonstrated to be ... More
