Description
1-Chloro-2-iodoethane is used as a mild electrophile for iodination of metallated species, as in the conversion of an ortho-lithiated benzyl ether to the corresponding ortho-iodide. It reacts with 5-hydroxy-[1,4]naphthoquinone, and obtain the 5-(2-chloro-ethoxy)-[1,4]naphthoquinone.

Applications
Le 1-chloro-2-iodoéthane est utilisé comme un électrophile doux pour l’iodation d’espèces métallisées, comme dans la conversion d’un éther benzylique ortho-lithié en ortho-iodure correspondant. Il réagit avec la 5-hydroxy-[1,4]naphtoquinone et obtient la 5-(2-chloro-éthoxy)-[1,4]naphtoquinone.

Solvants inorganiques solubles. Insoluble dans l’eau.

Incompatible avec les agents oxydants forts. Garder le récipient hermétiquement fermé. Stocker dans des conditions fraîches et sèches et dans des récipients bien scellés.
