Thermo Scientific Pierce Sulfo-EMCS is a water-soluble amine-to-sulfhydryl crosslinker that contains NHS-ester and maleimide reactive groups at opposite ends of a medium-length spacer arm (9.4 angstroms).
Features of Sulfo-EMCS:
• Reactive groups: sulfo-NHS ester and maleimide • Reactive towards: amino and sulfhydryl groups • Sulfo-NHS ester end couples with primary amines at pH 7-9 to form stable amide bonds • Maleimide reacts with -SH groups at pH 6.5-7.5, forming stable thioether linkages • Non-cleavable • Water-soluble (compare to EMCS) • Aliphatic spacer offers low potential for eliciting an immune response

'A comprehensive, unbiased inventory of synuclein forms present in Lewy bodies from patients with dementia with Lewy bodies was carried out using two-dimensional immunoblot analysis, novel sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays with modification-specific synuclein antibodies, and mass spectroscopy. The predominant modification of alpha-synuclein in Lewy bodies is a single phosphorylation at ... More
An on-chip thin film photodetector for the quantification of DNA probes and targets in microarrays.
Authors:Fixe F, Chu V, Prazeres DM, Conde JP
Journal:Nucleic Acids Res
PubMed ID:15148343
A flat microdevice which incorporates a thin-film amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) photodetector with an upper layer of functionalized SiO2 is used to quantify the density of both immobilized and hybridized DNA oligonucleotides labeled with a fluorophore. The device is based on the photoconductivity of hydrogenated amorphous silicon in a coplanar electrode ... More
Functionalization of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as a substrate for DNA microarrays.
Authors:Fixe F, Dufva M, Telleman P, Christensen CB
Journal:Nucleic Acids Res
PubMed ID:14718554
A chemical procedure was developed to functionalize poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) substrates. PMMA is reacted with hexamethylene diamine to yield an aminated surface for immobilizing DNA in microarrays. The density of primary NH2 groups was 0.29 nmol/cm2. The availability of these primary amines was confirmed by the immobilization of DNA probes ... More
