자주 묻는 질문(FAQ)
For how long can I store Grace's Insect Medium, unsupplemented at room temperature?
We ship this product under ambient conditions throughout the year. We have performed shipping studies that shown components to be stable for at least 7 days at ambient temperatures. The important factor is to ensure that the media is not exposed to light at the warmer temperatures as there are vitamins and amino acids that will breakdown with light exposure.
What additional supplements are required in Grace's Insect Cell Culture Medium, Unsupplemented to make a "complete" formulation that will support insect cell growth?
Grace's Insect Cell Culture Medium, Unsupplemented requires addition of 3.33 g/L of lactalbumin hydrolysate and 3.33 g/L of yeastolate for the base growth medium. For the complete growth medium that will support insect cell growth, 10% fetal bovine serum must also be added. This complete growth medium is also referred to as TNM-FH.
Bombyxin is a growth factor for wing imaginal disks in Lepidoptera.

'The mechanisms that control the growth rate of internal tissues during postembryonic development are poorly understood. In insects, the growth rate of imaginal disks varies with nutrition and keeps pace with variation in somatic growth. We describe here a mechanism by which the growth of wing imaginal disks is controlled. ... More
Kinesin Superfamily Motor Protein KIF17 and mLin-10 in NMDA Receptor-Containing Vesicle Transport
'Experiments with vesicles containing N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)receptor 2B (NR2B subunit) show that they are transported alongmicrotubules by KIF17, a neuron-specific molecular motor in neuronaldendrites. Selective transport is accomplished by direct interaction of theKIF17 tail with a PDZ domain of mLin-10 (Mint1/X11), which is aconstituent of a large protein complex including mLin-2 ... More
Interaction of nucleotides with membrane-associated cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator.

'Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) is a Cl- channel that is regulated by cytosolic nucleotides and by cAMP- dependent phosphorylation. In excised membrane patches, CFTR Cl- channel activity requires hydrolyzable nucleotides and Mg2+, and is inhibited by ADP. We examined the interactions between CFTR and nucleotides using 8-azidoadenosine 5''-triphosphate ... More
Purification, reconstitution, and steady-state kinetics of the trans-membrane 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 2.

PubMed ID:11940569
'Human membrane 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 2 is an enzyme essential in the conversion of the highly active 17beta-hydroxysteroids into their inactive keto forms in a variety of tissues. 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 2 with 6 consecutive histidines at its N terminus was expressed in Sf9 insect cells. This recombinant protein retained ... More
