The Thermo Scientific™ Triton XT™ TIMS is the pinnacle of over two decades of continuous development, combining outstanding technologies such as:

  • 1013Ω Amplifier Technology: extending the lower limits of the ultimate detector
  • Retarding Potential Quadrupole Lenses (RPQ): for the highest abundance sensitivity allowing high precision of extreme isotope ratios
  • Multi-ion counting (MIC) packages: dedicated for specific nuclear and geochronology applications
  • Stable and linear SEM and then CDD ion counters: for the smallest sample amounts and lowest abundance isotopes
  • High-performance Faraday cups: to guarantee uniform response and long lifetime
  • High stability thermal ionization source: characterized by a very small kinetic energy spread of the ions and optimized for maximum ion transmission for both single and double filament techniques
  • Reliable moveable collector array: brings up to 9 Faraday cups into precise alignment with ion beams of different dispersions. With a mass range to cover static Li measurements, that is extendable to cover static Ca
  • Virtual amplifier: allows cancellation of gain factor uncertainties through amplifier rotation, so that low ppm external reproducibility can be achieved using efficient static measurements
