The Axiom OVSNP60 Genotyping Array, 384HT format, contains 72,723 SNPs identified in free-ranging white-tailed deer and is a component of our Axiom Agrigenomics Genotyping solution where target genomic DNA is prepared and processed on the GeneTitan Multi-Channel instrument. The automated process include hybridization of the gDNA to this high-throughput microarray followed by staining, washing, imaging, and output of genotyping data for further analysis.

The Axiom OVSNP60 Genotyping Array was designed with input from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Iowa State University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and the USGS National Wildlife Health Center. The development of this array was supported by a grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources/Michigan State University Joint Wildlife Disease Initiative and a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Multi-State Conservation grant.

Use of this medium-density array enables data generated in different laboratories to be more easily compared than data generated by other markers (e.g., microsatellites), facilitating collaboration among labs.

The Axiom OVSNP60 Genotyping Array is also available in 96 format (Cat. No. 551189), containing probe sets for 702,183 SNPs.

Array content
• Probe sets for 72,723 SNPs identified in white-tailed deer, selected following screening of 702,183 SNPs on the Axiom OVSNP600 Genotyping Array (96 format) using free-ranging deer from 15 states in the eastern range of the species, and also selected based on their inclusion in the Best and Recommended category for highest quality results and evenly distributed across the scaffolds of the deer reference genome (PRJNA317745)
• Includes 54 SNPs identified as potentially associated with susceptibility to CWD in captive white-tailed deer

Applications
• Assign parentage and resolve relationships among individuals
• Assign individuals to population of origin and quantify hybridization
• Distinguish captive deer from free-ranging deer
• Conduct landscape genomics studies to identify landscape features that facilitate or limit deer movement/population connectivity
• Obtain genotypes for SNPs previously associated with CWD susceptibility and quantify the frequency and distribution of these CWD-associated variants in populations
