rRNA Antibody (MA1-13017) in ICC/IF
Immunofluorescence analysis of Ribosomal RNA was performed using 70% confluent log phase HeLa cells. The cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde for 10 minutes, permeabilized with 0.1% Triton™ X-100 for 10 minutes, and blocked with 1% BSA for 1 hour at room temperature. MA1-13017 has been successfully used in Immunocytochemistry, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence applications.

Target Information
rRNA (ribosomal RNA) forms a major structural component of ribosomes which provides a mechanism for decoding mRNA information into amino acids/proteins through the process of translation. rRNA plays a key role in accurate positioning of mRNA as well as peptidyl tRNA, and also plays a structural role in peptidyl transferase activity by generating scaffolds where ribosomal proteins are assembled. rRNA is generated inside nucleolus, which is localized in nucleus of the cells and contains genes essential for encoding rRNA. Defective rRNA may implicate in certain pathologies, for example: decreased rRNA expression has been observed in subjects with myelodysplastic syndromes, and abnormal rRNA expression has also been linked to Alzheimer's disease.
