GNAI1/GNAI2/GNAI3 are genes that encode for the G protein alpha inhibiting activity subunit. These proteins play a crucial role in signal transduction pathways, particularly in the inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. They are involved in various physiological processes, including neurotransmitter release, hormone secretion, and regulation of smooth muscle contraction. Mutations in these genes have been associated with various diseases, including hypoparathyroidism, pituitary adenoma, and cardiovascular disorders.
