Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (96%), Rat (96%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-82989. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
MAP2K5 (MEK5) serine/threonine kinase (mitogen-activated protein kinase 5) or MEK5 is a dual specificity protein kinase that belongs to the MAP kinase family which specifically interacts with and activates MAPK7/ERK5. MAP2K5 itself can be phosphorylated and activated by MAP3K3/MEKK3, as well as by atypical protein kinase C isoforms (aPKCs). The signal cascade mediated by MAP2K5 is involved in growth factor stimulated cell proliferation and muscle cell differentiation. The rs3743354 polymorphism in the MAP2K5 promoter may affect the risk of developing colorectal cancer (CRC).
