PEP-072 is a 20 amino acid synthetic peptide whose sequence corresponds to residues 11-30 of mouse CLOCK with an amino terminal cysteine added for carrier protein conjugation. The sequence of this peptide is (amino to carboxy terminus): S11-S-I-V-D-R-D-D-S-S-I-F-D-G-L-V-E-E-D-D30-C
This peptide may be used for neutralization and control experiments with the polyclonal antibody that reacts with this product and mouse CLOCK, catalog # PA1-520. Using a solution of peptide of equal volume and concentration to the corresponding antibody will yield a large molar excess of peptide (~70-fold) for competitive inhibition of antibody-protein binding reactions.

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) family of transcription factors. Polymorphisms within the encoded protein have been associated with circadian rhythm sleep disorders. A similar protein in mice is a circadian regulator that acts as a transcription factor and forms a heterodimer with aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator-like to activate transcription of mouse period 1.
