Western blot was performed using anti-NIK/ MAP3K14 Polyclonal Antibody (Product # PA5-27713) and a 104 kDa band corresponding to NIK/MAP3K14 was observed in Mouse Liver only when compared to other tissues. Uncharacterized bands between 40-60 kDa were also observed in the samples tested. Target Information
MAP3K14 (NIK) is structurally related to MAP3Ks. MAP3K14 phosphorylates and activates CHUK (IKKalpha) and IKBKB (IKK beta), which in turn phosphorylate IkB-alpha, releasing NF-KappaB leading to up-regulation of inflammatory response genes. This kinase binds to TRAF2 and stimulates NF-kappaB activity. It shares sequence similarity with several other MAPKK kinases. It participates in an NF-kappaB-inducing signalling cascade common to receptors of the tumour-necrosis/nerve-growth factor (TNF/NGF) family and to the interleukin-1 type-I receptor.
