Introducing Accelerating Microscopy

On December 29, 1959, the noted physicist Richard Feynman issued an invitation to scientists to enter a new field of discovery with his lecture entitled, “There’s Plenty of Room at the Bottom,” which was delivered at the annual meeting of the American Physical Society at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Many would credit this talk as the genesis of the modern field of nanotechnology.

In the last 60 years, extraordinary progress has been made in the field of electron microscopy, one of the primary tools of nanoscience. Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), in particular, has been widely recognized as a game-changer for structural biology. In fact, the technique won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2017.

Our new blog, Accelerating Microscopy, will feature content focusing on a variety of topics as they relate to this technology and how researchers around the globe are using our electron microscopes to advance science. Through interviews with scientists, you’ll learn directly from the people involved in life-changing research every day.
