Bioinformatics Update – Improved Designer Tool Provides More Flexibility | ASHG 2015

Guoying Liu of Thermo Fisher Scientific shared some details with us at the ASHG annual meeting about data highlighting improvements made to Ion AmpliSeq designer tool.

His poster, titled “Improved Algorithm for Amplicon Sequencing Assay Designs” highlights the improvements made to the designer tool. The tool can now support designs for more than 10 genomes, it also provides the ability for uploading custom genomes.

Improvements were also made to ensure assay specificity, primer quality control, SNP under primer, as well as the flexibility to adapt to different Ion AmpliSeq sequencing applications, including variant calling, copy number variation detection, RNA expression, gene fusion detection, and metagenomics.
