This upcoming Independence Day in the United States is going to look a little different than most. Many cities and towns have canceled fireworks, or at least the gatherings to watch them. But I suspect there will still be need for emergency personnel to deal with the same hazards whether among large or small crowds or even individuals. If you choose to use legal fireworks or sparklers, here are some safety tips from the National Safety Council.
Special thank you to the many first responders who are working throughout the holiday to keep us safe — whether they are among large crowds or not. Here is a link to some of the safety and security technology and tools usually used every day and during large events by law enforcement and first responders to detect any narcotics, explosives, or radiation on the streets or within a crowd.
It’s scary to think that we need all this technology to help keep us safe during a family-friendly celebration, but it would be even more concerning without it.
