It’s a Great IDEA to Attend the Nonwoven Event of the Season

What an idea: 7,000 industry peers from over 70 companies, world-class speakers, and hundreds of exhibitors discussing and demonstrating the latest in in nonwovens and engineered fabrics technology.  Appropriately enough, the event is called IDEA®19.

This premier industry event features experts who will present their outlooks for select nonwoven industries. Some of the key topics that will be covered include the nonwoven markets of China, the disposable hygiene markets of South America, North American nonwovens market dynamics and trends, the nonwoven markets of Greater Europe, and the regional industry and market knowledge of Asia. The speakers assure attendees they will provide actionable data, key drivers and educated insights for business opportunities in these critical regions.

There are also plenty of training opportunities at the show and there are three recommended tracks:  absorbent hygiene, filter media and wet wipes. The show website promotes the training courses especially for those less seasoned in the industry.  “Newcomers seeking to learn the key elements of making nonwovens – and those with two years or more of nonwovens experience seeking enhanced knowledge of technical design and performance within absorbent hygiene products, wet wipes, and filtration media for air and liquid – will get more out of their IDEA® 19 investment by taking one or more of these short courses.”

Learn about web gauging systems

Whether you are less seasoned or an expert in the field, you can learn plenty on the show floor itself.  We will be in Booth 645 exhibiting non contact basis weight measurement and control systems that enable nonwoven manufacturers to overcome process challenges and produce high performance products for nonwovens applications. We’ll be discussing web gauging technology that allows you to meet the unique measurement and reporting requirements of nonwoven manufacturing, whether the process is spunbond, spunlace, airlaid, carded, meltblown or needlepunch processes.

A Web Gauging System is a measurement and control system used for anything manufactured in a continuous web process. Producers of plastic film, coated and converted products, rubber/vinyl, building materials, lithium-ion batteries, and nonwovens especially need accurate thickness, basis weight and moisture data in order to improve product quality and precisely control raw material usage.  Web gauging systems help ensure efficient production of uniform, reliable, functional products, and help manufacturers meet stringent customer specifications and guarantee the performance of products.

If you would like to get more technical, we’ll be happy to show you how infrared process analysis thickness sensors use the full spectral range of the near infrared region to provide precise, basis weight, thickness , additive and moisture data. Producers of nonwoven fabrics use this data to improve product quality and reduce scrap.

I love when attendees stop by the booth because it gives us the opportunity to learn what new requirements are needed in the industry. And of course, it’s always great to catch up with customers, and maybe partner up with them to play a little golf after the show ends. In fact, if you are staying a few extra days, the show provided a convenient link to Miami Beach attractions.
