“Where every major construction industry is represented amongst 2,500+ exhibitors over 2,500,000 square feet and more than 150 education sessions including asphalt, aggregates, concrete, earthmoving, lifting, mining, utilities and more.” That’s the description the CONEXPO show has on its website. And if you have ever attended, you would agree. The exhibit site itself is crowded with cranes, land clearing, trenching and shoring equipment, concrete equipment, aerial lifters, trucks, earthmoving and material handling equipment and other giant pieces of machinery used in the construction industry. I love getting up close to the haul trucks and front end loaders.
It’s not just industrial equipment that will be on display. Attendees can try their hand at virtual reality training, gamified learning, and connected intelligence technology. You can even see the world’s first 3D-printed, fully functioning excavator that will be in the ‘workforce zone.’ There is so much to see, and so many people to talk to, and so much new technology to explore, there’s something for everybody at ConExpo — which is a good thing since show officials are expecting 130,000 construction industry professionals from around the world to attend.
We’ll be in Bronze Hall, Booth #B91115, demonstrating bulk weighing and monitoring equipment. Stop by and ask us about industrial in-motion weighing, inspection, monitoring and control technology. We’ll have live demonstrations of belt scale systems, safety pull conveyor protection switches, and a tramp metal detector that helps protect expensive crushers, conveyors and other process equipment from damage by tramp metal. This tramp metal detector is designed especially for belt conveyors moving coal, iron pellets, minerals, aggregates and other bulk materials, and is able to detect all types of metallic scrap including bucket teeth, manganese steel mantles, bore crowns, bar scrap, chains and tools.
If you’re a fan of the big stuff, and you have some extra time to explore the area, you might want to check out the Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon. The Dam, which was the largest dam in the world when it was completed in 1935, is less than an hour from Las Vegas. It’s about a 5-hour drive to the Grand Canyon, but certainly worth the trip.
Bounties of food are also in great supply in Las Vegas. In fact, I do not think I have ever been to the same restaurant twice in Las Vegas. I like to try something new every time I go.
If you can’t make it to the event and would like more information on any of the above technologies or other technologies involved in bulk weighing and monitoring or cement analysis and production, please visit our online Cement, Coal & Minerals Learning Center. You will find applications and technologies addressing online bulk material analysis and control; material handling; level, density, and flow measurement; emissions and personnel safety monitoring; informatics; and elemental and phase analysis in the laboratory—for use at both the quarry and the cement plant.
