The PrioCHECK™ family of type-specific FMD tests consists of ELISA test kits for the detection of serological antibodies directed against specific FMDV structural protein compositions derived from FMDV-O, FMDV-A, or FMDV-Asia1 virus strains.

Test procedure
In the PrioCHECK™ FMDV Type O ELISA, plates are coated with the FMDV type O antigen. The key reagent of the test is an anti-FMDV specific monoclonal antibody (mAb) conjugated to an enzyme that generates a color signal. Binding of the conjugate to the immobilized antigen is blocked by anti-FMDV antibodies present in the test sample. The signal is then measured and when no color is formed, the antibodies in the sample have competed for the viral protein coated on the plate. Samples with a percent inhibition (PI) value of ≥ 50% have shown an immune response to the foot and mouth disease virus type O. With this result, the sample is immuno-reactive (i.e., anti-FMDV antibodies are present).
