Description

LB Medium is used for the cultivation of E. coli. This nutrient-rich microbial broth contains peptides, amino acids, water-soluble vitamins, and carbohydrates. Suitable for non-selective cultivation of E. coli strains for cloning, DNA plasmid production and production of recombinant proteins. Also suitable for selective cultivation when appropriate antibiotics are added.

General Description
• LB Medium, Miller is used for the cultivation of E. coli. This nutrient-rich microbial broth contains peptides, amino acids, water-soluble vitamins, and carbohydrates
• This product is formulated to enhance growth of recombinant E. coli strains by providing exogenous growth factors tryptone and yeast, which the E. coli would otherwise have to synthesize
• LB Medium, Miller contains high levels of NaCl to allow for osmotic balance
• It also contains 10g Bacto tryptone, 5g Bacto yeast extract, and 10g NaCl per liter
Application
• LB Medium, Miller is suitable for non-selective cultivation of E. coli strains for cloning, DNA plasmid production, and production of recombinant proteins
• It has been used as a culture medium for Escherichia coli, Vibrio natriegens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Bacillus subtilis strains
