Cultivate and isolate pathogenic fungi with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ SABHI™ (Sabouraud Dextrose with Brain Heart Infusion Agar) (5% sheep blood). In 1967, Gorman developed SABHI Agar by combining Sabouraud Dextrose Agar and Brain Heart Infusion Agar. This combined formulation increased recovery of pathogenic fungi1. Selectivity can be achieved by the addition of different antibiotics. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar helps in the cultivation of dermatophytes and Brain Heart Infusion Agar helps to isolate fungi from clinical specimens2.
SABHI (Sabouraud Dextrose with Brain Heart Infusion Agar) (5% sheep blood) is a solid medium that is recommended for use in qualitative procedures for cultivation and isolation of pathogenic fungi.
SABHI (Sabouraud Dextrose with Brain Heart Infusion Agar) (5% sheep blood) contains dextrose, casein peptone, meat peptone, brain heart infusion solids, sodium chloride, disodium phosphate, agar, demineralized water and sheep blood. Dextrose serves as the carbohydrate source. Sheep blood provide essential growth factors for fastidious fungi.
