Beschreibung
o-phenylenediamine is used to prepare tiabendazole, pyrazinamide, morinamide, clemizole and chlormidazole. It is involved in the synthesis of benzimidazole by reacting with carboxylic acids and their derivatives. It is also used to prepare quinoxalinedione and mercaptoimidazoles by condensation with dimethyl oxalate and xanthate esters respectively. It reacts with nitrous acid to get benzotriazole, which finds application as a corrosion inhibitor. It is actively involved in the preparation of pharmaceuticals by reacting substituted o-phenylenediamine with various diketones.

Anwendungen
O-Phenylendiamin wird zur Zubereitung von Tiabendazol, Pyrazinamid, Morinamid, Clemizol und Chlormidazol verwendet. Es ist an der Synthese von Benzimidazol beteiligt, indem es mit Carboxylsäuren und deren Derivaten reagiert. Es wird auch zur Herstellung von Chinoxalinedion und Mercaptoimidazolen durch Kondensation mit Dimethyloxalat bzw. Xanthat-Estern verwendet. Es reagiert mit salpetriger Säure zu Benzotriazol, das als Korrosionshemmer Anwendung findet. Es ist aktiv an der Herstellung von Pharmazeutika beteiligt, indem es die Reaktion von substituiertem O-Phenylendiamin mit verschiedenen Diketonen ermöglicht.

Löslich in Alkohol, Chloroform, Ether, geringfügig in Wasser löslich. Löslich in heißem Wasser.
