Beschreibung

Benzenesulfonic acid is mainly consumed by conversion to other specialty chemicals. A variety of pharmaceutical drugs are prepared as salts of benzenesulfonic acid and are known as besylates or besilates. The alkali metal salt of benzenesulfonic acid was once widely used in the production of phenol. It acts as an acid catalyst for direct esterification of amino acids and peptides.

Anwendungen
Benzolsulfonsäure wird hauptsächlich durch Umwandlung in andere Spezialchemikalien verbraucht. Eine Vielzahl pharmazeutischer Arzneimittel wird als Salze der Benzolsulfonsäure hergestellt und diese sind als Besylate oder Besilate bekannt. Das Alkalimetallsalz aus Benzolsulfonsäure war einst bei der Herstellung von Phenol weit verbreitet. Es dient als Säurekatalysator für die direkte Veresterung von Aminosäuren und Peptiden.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser und Alkohol. Schwer löslich in Benzol. Unlöslich in unpolaren Lösungsmitteln.

Hinweise
Es ist hygroskopisch. Nicht kompatibel mit Oxidationsmitteln und Basen.
