For customers seeking to automate their PCR workflow, the Applied Biosystems Automated Thermal Cycler (ATC) provides the reliability and performance you’ve come to expect from Applied Biosystems instruments. Now in a small, easy-to-integrate, and compatible format, our Automated Thermal Cycler enables hands-free PCR results.

Space-saving design with our smallest thermal cycler footprint
• Flexible modular design helps save space on robotic deck
• Separate control panel module provides flexibility when integrating on robotic deck
• Choice of 10-cm, 1-m, and 3-m cables allows flexibility to locate control module under thermal cycler, under deck, or up to 3 meters away

Automated lid and cycler features
• Automated lid compatible with programming for easy, hands-free operation with a liquid handler or plate stacker
• Heated cover slides forward to cover plate nest, helping ensure thermal contact and eliminate evaporation
• Compatible with full-skirt or half-skirt plates

Fully integrate your automated system with our easy-to-install software
• Integrate with robot via SiLA Rapid Integration standard–compatible software and prewritten application programming interfaces (APIs) for major robotic platforms
• Test instrument using desktop software before buying robot
• Enable ATC to cycle like old instrument with Applied Biosystems 9700 system simulation modes

Use the ATC as a stand-alone PCR thermal cycler
Flexible software can be connected to your robot's software interface or used to control the ATC as a stand-alone instrument. Test your instrument using the ATC desktop application before integrating it into your robotic automation system.

Award-winning service and support
• Help reduce downtime with rapid exchange support
• Have our engineers perform temperature qualification at your site

Applied Biosystems PCR plastics

Häufig gestellte Fragen (FAQ)

Do any of your thermal cyclers, other than the Automated Thermal Cycler, hold a full skirted PCR plate?

For full skirt plate, a raised heating block is required. None of our thermal cyclers have a raised heating block except the Automated Thermal Cycler.

What is the optimal ramp rate for my thermal cycler?

There is no universal ramp rate for a thermal cycler because both the block and sample ramp rates are different for each thermal cycler. The sample ramp rate changes with the volume of the sample since more time and energy are required to heat higher sample volumes. The ramp rate may also need to be changed for a particular PCR assay or primer pair if you are trying to use the same PCR assay on two different thermal cyclers, for example.

As a reference, the block ramp rate commonly used with DreamTaq Polymerase on the MiniAmp thermal cycler is 3.0 C/sec. In a 50 µL PCR reaction, this translates to a sample ramp rate of ~1 C/sec.
