Carry out specific and rapid detection of Norovirus in human fecal specimens with Thermo Scientific™ IDEIA™ Norovirus Kit. This enzyme immunoassay utilizes a combination of both genogroup 1 and genogroup 2 specific monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies in a solid phase sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the detection of genogroup 1 and genogroup 2 Norovirus.

Norovirus is a major cause of viral gastroenteritis with high attack rates in both adults and children. Large outbreaks occur in hospitals, cruise ships, schools and residential homes. Several outbreaks have arisen from ingestion of contaminated water or food, particularly shellfish.

Use IDEIA Norovirus Kit for differential diagnosis of Norovirus from other causes of gastroenteritis and for rapid laboratory diagnosis of Norovirus in human fecal samples.

  • Rapid results- within little over 30 minutes of receiving test sample or culture
  • Simple- ready-to-use reagents
  • Excellent sensitivity and specificity- high quality, well-characterized antibodies used in the assay provide excellent sensitivity and specificity.
  • Easy-to-read results

Norovirus, initially known as small round structured viruses 1,2 (SRSV), are single-stranded RNA viruses classified in the family Caliciviridae3. Initially, four antigenic types of SRSV were recognised4 but more recently, using molecular techniques, three genogroups have been identified within the genus Norovirus5. Genogroup 1 and Genogroup 2 are associated with human infections whilst Genogroup 3 is associated with bovine and porcine infection6.
