Beschreibung
Sodium peroxide acts as a bleaching agent in laundry and wood pulp. It finds application in the extraction of minerals from various ores. It acts as an oxidizing agent as well as an oxygen source by reacting with carbon dioxide. Furthermore, it is used as a deodorant and an analytical reagent. It is also useful in scuba gear and in submarines.

Anwendungen
Natriumperoxid wirkt als Bleichmittel beim Waschen und für Zellstoff. Es findet Anwendung bei der Extraktion von Mineralien aus verschiedenen Erzen. Es wirkt als Oxidationsmittel sowie als Sauerstoffquelle, indem es mit Kohlendioxid reagiert. Außerdem wird es als Deodorant und analytisches Reagenz verwendet. Es ist auch für Tauchausrüstungen und in U-Booten nützlich.
Löslichkeit
In Säure löslich. Unlöslich in Alkali.
Hinweise
Luftempfindlich und hygroskopisch. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Es reagiert heftig mit Wasser unter Freisetzung von Natriumhydroxid und Wasserstoffperoxid. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Reduktionsmitteln, organischen Materialien, Alkoholen und pulverförmigen Metallen.
